Moving a 9ft Steinway concert grand — through the streets of Leeds
A full concert grand is about as demanding as piano moving gets: dismantled, wrapped, skidded down to street level, ramped and rebuilt at the far end. This is a real Leeds job, start to finish.
Where we work
Across Leeds — and all of Yorkshire
We're in Leeds constantly, and we know its properties: city-centre apartments with and without lifts, Victorian terraces with tight halls, and the big period homes out north with staircases to match.
City centre & the universities
Apartments and penthouses in LS1 and LS2, halls of residence, and the music schools — including Leeds Conservatoire (formerly Leeds College of Music), the University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett, Leeds Trinity and Leeds Arts University. From a student upright to a concert instrument.
North Leeds & the villages
Right across the city
Beyond Leeds
We cover the whole of Yorkshire week in, week out — Bradford, Wakefield, Harrogate, York, Halifax and further afield — and regularly take pianos the length of the UK.
Careful, every time
The right kit, and a plan before we lift
A piano can weigh well over 150kg, with a cast-iron frame, strings under huge tension and a delicate action inside. We plan the route through your property before anything moves, protect floors and doorframes as we go, and use the proper equipment for the job.
- Grand slippers, padded skids and double & triple aluminium ramps
- Stair-climbing technique for terraces, landings and first-floor flats
- Quilted wraps and corner protection on every instrument
- Fully insured — your piano is covered from the first lift to the last

Good to know
Piano removal questions, answered
Do you move grand pianos as well as uprights?
Yes — uprights, baby grands, full concert grands, digital pianos, pianolas and organs. Grands are partly dismantled where needed (legs and lyre off), moved on a padded skid with grand slippers, then rebuilt and settled at the other end.
Can you get a piano up to a flat or a first-floor room?
Routinely. Stairs, tight landings, spiral staircases and city-centre flats with or without a lift are all normal for us. The access at both ends is the biggest thing that affects the price, so it helps to mention steps and parking when you ask.
Is my piano insured while you move it?
Yes, we're fully insured to move pianos. When you ask for a price you'll be able to tell us the value of your instrument for liability purposes.
Do you only cover Leeds?
Leeds is our home patch and we're here daily, but we cover the whole of Yorkshire and travel across the UK when needed.
How do I get a price?
Tell us the type of piano, the two addresses and a little about the access. Use the quote chat below or call 0113 466 0876 and we'll get a clear price back to you, usually the same day.
